As someone interested in mathematics and research, I was drawn to the university’s strong academics and the ability to explore interests beyond the classroom. I also appreciated the variety of communities and programs available, which makes a large university feel more personal. Coming from South Texas, the size of campus and Minnesota’s weather were definitely intimidating at first. However, I see that as part of the adventure. Overall, the UMN feels like a place where I can challenge myself, grow independently, and find my community.

When we went to orientation my mom and I were lost and there was this girl that was walking by who had a friendly smile on her face and we asked if she could point us in the right direction. She walked with us and she was a also going to the Hubbard School for classes and involved in theatre. We spoke about how I am also in theatre and we became Instagram friends. She solidified my decision to apply here!

I like that it has a diverse community and is located in the Twin Cities, giving students access to many experiences outside of campus. Overall, I have a positive impression of the university and think it would be a good place for students to grow academically and personally.

USAAlthough I do not attend Chapel Hill myself (I hope to in the future), I do have a coworker who attends Chapel Hill as a pre law student. She is always telling me how much she loves the campus environment, and how many valued friendships she's made!
