The 2026 DASA/CIWG Checklist: Don't Let a Missing PDF Stall Your Admission
Prayas
Moving to the next critical topic for the 2026 academic year: the actual application checklist. While attestation proves your documents are real, the DASA/CIWG portal is where your journey to India's top engineering and technical institutes (NITs, IIITs) officially begins.
1. The "Big Three" Eligibility Rules
Before you gather papers, ensure you meet the 2026 "Rule of Three":
Academic: Minimum 75% aggregate (or 7.5 CGPA) in Grade 12.
Residential: You must have studied Grade 11 and 12 (or equivalent) outside India.
Entrance: For 2026, JEE Main Rank is the only valid score for DASA/CIWG (SAT is no longer accepted for these premier government institutes).
2. The Essential Student Document Pack
These are the standard academic files you’ll need to scan (keep them under 500 KB and in PDF/JPG format as per portal requirements).
Grade 10 Marksheet/Aadhar: Acts as your official Proof of Date of Birth.
Grade 11 & 12 Marksheets: If your Grade 12 results aren't out by June 2026, you can upload an "Undertaking" (a signed promise to provide them by September).
Proof of Overseas Education: A certificate from your UAE school confirming you completed the last two years there.
Passport: A clear scan of the student’s valid passport. If you hold an Indian passport but live in the UAE, you are still an "NRI" for this scheme.
3. The "Gulf Secret": CIWG-Specific Documents
If you are applying under the CIWG (Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf) category to save on fees, the documentation is much stricter. You must prove your parent is a resident worker in the UAE, Oman, Qatar, etc.
Required Document | Purpose |
Parent’s Passport & Visa | Must show a valid residency/work visa for a Gulf country. |
Parent’s Work Permit | Proof of legal employment (Labour Card or similar). |
Company Certificate | A letter from the employer (on letterhead) confirming the parent’s current employment in the Gulf. |
Relationship Proof | Usually, your birth certificate or passport listing the parent's name. |
4. The "Final Mile" Checklist (Physical Reporting)
Once you get a seat allotment in July 2026, you'll need to carry these physical originals to India for verification:
Transfer Certificate (TC): Issued by your UAE school.
Migration Certificate: Essential if you’re moving from a UAE-based board (like the MoE or a private foreign board) to an Indian University.
Medical Fitness Certificate: Usually, a standard form found in the DASA 2026 brochure, signed by a registered doctor.
Passport Size Photos: Carry at least 15-20 copies (you’ll need them for everything from hostel forms to local SIM cards).
5. 2026 Pro-Tip: The "Name Match" Audit
The most common reason for 2026 application rejections isn't grades, it's naming discrepancies.
Check this on Priority Basis: Does your name on your Grade 10 Marksheet exactly match your Passport and your JEE Main Scorecard? If your passport includes a middle name that your school certificate lacks, you may need a notarized "One and the Same" affidavit to avoid delays.
The Final Verdict: The DASA portal typically opens in June 2026. Having this folder ready by May means you can submit your application in the first 24 hours, giving you peace of mind while others are scrambling for parent employment letters.
